Foster 10
Sailing/rowing
dinghy.
Unstayed gunter rig.
LOA 10' Beam 4'6".
The Foster 10 was originally designed
and built by Bill Foster of Battery Point, Tasmania, a well known and
respected Tasmanian boatbuilder and thorough gentleman, as
a birthday present for one of his daughters, in 1986, and was intended
to be a one off.
The typically Tasmanian design was admired by plenty
and
built by a few and to date approximately 35 have been built.
The dinghy pictured ' Eileen' was built
for a
client from the United States and was shipped to Singapore before
Christmas 2000. She is different from all the other Foster
10's built to date, in that she has stern benches and stowage
compartment
aft.
She has a Celery Top keel, ribs and keelson, and the
naturally grown stem, one piece transom, planking and grown
knees are all Huon Pine. She is fastened with silicon bronze and
copper.
'Ned' was
built in 1998.
Appropriately named as the owner was also known as Ned to a few.
